WHAT I DO
I provide consulting to people of all ages for adult life skills: Budgeting, Investing, Retirement, Debt, Insurance, etc. We will work to develop a plan for financial emergencies. We will set realistic retirement expectations. We will discuss financial goals and I will give you the encouragement and accountability you need to reach them.
I am NOT a salesman. I do not sell insurance or other financial products. You are hiring me to be your coach and cheerleader; this is a service, not a product.
WHY I DO THIS
In 2018, I sat down with my mother to discuss her finances. She wanted some help creating a budget and setting goals. Because of a ton of hard work and a late-in-life career change, she was making more money than she ever had. She was proud of herself and in a really good position for the coming years.
But... She had school debt, credit card debt, hospital bill debt. She needed a new vehicle and a new roof. She wanted to go on vacation. She wanted to have a plan for retirement and needed to start from scratch. We sat down for several hours, multiple times, and made a plan together. We looked at her debts, at her income, at her "discretionary spending" (nonessentials). We would check in with each other regularly and over the course of between 9-12 months, she had paid off ALL her debt except her mortgage. She had about $2,500 in a savings account for emergencies. She was saving $500 monthly toward a newer car. She was (and still is!) crushing it!

ABOUT ME
PHIL VINCENT
I'm full of energy and laughter and passion. I love to meet new people, but I love being with my people the most (family and friends). I work full time for an online school as a middle school teacher (BA English Language Arts from GVSU). I also work part time for my church as a worship leader. I love doing both!
In 2007 I married my high school sweetheart Rachel. She's my favorite person. We have two lovely Golden Retrievers, Lionel Richie and Pam Beesly. We adopted our first child, Theo, in June of 2023. He's beautiful and amazing.
We have lived in Grand Rapids, MI together since 2014. We were able to buy our first house here in 2015 and love this city. The culture, the food, the beer! We've got Founders... I mean, come on!
I have always loved working with money. When I was a kid, I'd dump out my dad's coffee jar of coins and stack and count it just for fun. I bought myself a coin counter with my birthday money one year and thought it was the coolest gadget ever! When I was in high school, my dad stopped spending money on me (food, clothes, gas, etc.) and set me up with a monthly allowance instead. This was one of the greatest things he ever did for me because it taught me how to prepare and plan for things that I had always taken for granted.
As an adult, I strive to surround myself with great people who encourage and support me to become my best self. It's those close friends and family members who have inspired this new adventure. Starting a business has always been a dream of mine and I still can't believe it's actually happened.
